Historian Storage Estimator

This worksheet helps you approximate storage requirements based on your data characteristics. Actual storage consumption is influenced by many variables, including update rates, data types, compression behavior, retention policies, and usage patterns. Because of this, the results should be treated as an estimate, not a guarantee.Always plan for growth and variability.

A good operating principle is to provision 25% to 50% more storage than the calculator indicates. Disk space should be expandable and isolated from the operating system and other application components. This ensures that if the historian storage volume becomes full, it does not introduce instability or failure elsewhere in the system.
